A Matter of Trust - Learn To Sing From The Heart

How our world unfolds is all about perception. Just like when you are singing or chanting, some are very cognoscente of the voice and some are very cognoscente of the sensation of the throat, some are very evanescent of other people's voices. Everyone has a different perception in a room full of people singing. There are ways in which you can free yourself up . . . ways that you can actually have a voice that you have never known before. It will surprise you. It will scare you and then it will concern you until you become accustom to it and once you become accustom to it, you expect it and once you expect it, you're in business. Somebody says, I can't sing. That is an opinion. It's an opinion that they are carrying very painfully because nobody wants to believe that they can't sing. So it's an opinion that you have been told and that you believed. There is an old saying in mystic spirituality: You move from individual consciousness to group consciousness to universal consciousness. That is very understandable. You move from thinking about yourself to thinking about yourself and others to thinking about everybody . . . but that is not what it means at all. Because thinking about everybody is a concept, you can't do it. It's a meaningful concept but it's just a concept. You can think about a lot of people but you can't think about everybody. You can't even think about the universe. You can think about a big space and you can think about a big space beyond a big space but you require identity and that's where the hitch is. In order to have identity, you can't have continuum. In order to perceive what really is, you have to perceive through continuum. In order to perceive what really is, you have to be able to perceive your connection to the perception and the perceived . . . you believe this is you and that is me . . . but this isn't the case. That is what it means from individual consciousness to group consciousness. In other words, you will build a group around a common trust and you will never say: I can't trust. You cannot say: I can't sing, because the moment you can't trust, you can't sing. Singing, if it's truly singing, has to come from your heart and the heart is unconditional otherwise it can't be the heart. The heart has to pump to each one of your cells even if it were to be upset with some of them. So, the moment you say, I can't trust, you can't sing. The moment you say, I can't sing, you are saying: I can't work from my heart.
