Be the Scout in Uncharted Moments
For most of life, amongst the majority of the population, the thoughts in the brain are copies of copies -- ricochets within patterns -- reflections of old memories -- fearful anticipations. Known patterns of thought are mixed with OPO -- other people's opinions -- all bunched together in word salads. There's little that’s original, for truly original thought has no validation, no proven basis . . . it’s thought to be nonsense. But when a pure tone is experienced -- such as a gong, a didgeridoo, or a conch -- there’s a sound that cuts through this meandering noise right down to the core of your being. It feels like a clearing . . . it reaches a “string” known to the ancient yogis as the silver thread.
This is your heartstring -- born to discover. When this is touched, it resonates in a way that knows truth . . . it sounds true. This is your touchstone; your centerpoint, and your resonance. When your own voice touches this string; when you're speaking from the soul, it can be strangely authentic and freak you out. It’s honest and vulnerable . . . your survival instincts find it uncomfortable and will make you squirm. People step away at this point, rather than risk this true sound of authenticity and purpose. But this is the forward scout of evolution -- one who discovers what’s never been known before. Are you this scout . . . down in your soul? Your instincts want to step away and revert to the familiar. The virus of doubt and exhaustion -- in the presence of this power -- will cause you to feel like a fraud. Your brain searches for familiar rewards like money and recognition.
Our prayer is when these natural doubts and sensations of fraud approach you -- which they will -- that you work with them as instruments of evolution, and stay committed in their presence. Introduce new and unusual information into the world . . . this world needs unfounded solutions. Be a forward scout who discovers what’s never been known, and when you’re attacked for being a fake and a fraud, smile with the face that every great innovation has faced. Be the first one to discover that you’re the first one. Be the scout in uncharted moments.
